Some kids cry when they’re overwhelmed. Some blow up, shut down, mask like professionals, or make dark jokes that feel way too sharp for their age.
However your child shows up, they don’t need to be “fixed.” They need to feel understood and safe enough to be themselves.
I work with kids, teens, and emerging adults who feel things deeply and process the world in creative, often nonlinear ways. Many are navigating mood shifts, identity questions, or big transitions. Others just need space to breathe in a world that moves too fast and demands too much.
My style is collaborative, expressive, and rooted in relationship. I love incorporating play-based therapy, expressive arts, movement and nature, especially for kids and teens who have a lot to say but not always the words to say it. I’m comfortable sitting with big emotions and hard topics that others might have labeled “too much.” Nothing is off-limits, and nothing has to be rushed.
If you’re a parent, you’re part of the process.
I work best when we’re on the same team: sharing insights, asking questions, and building support that actually works in real life (not just in the therapy room). I balance your involvement with developmentally-appropriate confidentiality and independence. That means your child has space to speak freely in session, while you stay informed about treatment goals, safety concerns, and ways to support them at home.
My approach is rooted in creating an affirming space where young people can explore who they are, what they feel, and how to move forward with more self-compassion and a little more breathing room.
If you want to know how I approach big feelings, neurodivergence, and creative arts in therapy, you can get to know me through my writing here.
